A Story of Mercy and Forgiveness

Mrs. Kore-eda, started to visit Calcutta since 1988. She used to see Mother Teresa and to be one of the active volunteers. But one day in 2009, as she was walking on the sidewalk, she met with a car accident in Japan. Eventually, this led to the amputation of her left leg at the upper thigh. She lost the meaning in her life and even thought of death. But on the last day at the hospital, the man who was responsible for the accident said to her, "I recently got myself converted to Christianity." Mrs. Kore-eda's heart went out to his young children and family. She thought, "Is there any way he can avoid going to jail?" Then she wrote a letter of petition: "His purpose in life was not to cause the accident. Through this, God wanted him to know his overwhelming love, I forgive him from my heart." Some time later, his wife came to Mrs. Kore-eda, she shed  tears saying, "Thank you so much for forgiving my husband." Mrs. Kore-eda says, "The beauty of forgiving someone purified my heart and she felt as if she could get up and skip. All of those changed my suffering into treasure." (International Movement of Co-workers of Mother Teresa, News Letter, Easter, 2011")
